The news that the ghastly King Street temporary toilets would be replaced with a proper, purpose built facility was warmly welcomed in East Grinstead. Despite the difficult economic conditions, the Lib Dem town council had struck a deal with Mid Sussex District Council to run the toilets after MSDC had built them. The deal was fully financed and everyone looked forward to the builders arriving.
However, the new Conservative led town council have decided to renege on the deal and have gone back to MSDC to request more "modest" facilities (Finance and General Purposes Committee 23rd June).
There can be no justification for this change as the facilities are already fully budgeted. So don't let your council let you down. Tell your councillor that you want the decent toilet facilities that this town deserves.
